My name is Jill Bennett and I am ceramicist who is currently based out of St. George Utah. I am most drawn to the lines and texture in the red rock formations in southern Utah. Trying to emulate and enhance those same lines in my ceramic work has created a distinct style where I portray my passion. I am drawn to ceramics because it encompasses persistence, patience, dedication and diligence. Ceramics requires both my mental and physical attention.
Starting at the age of fifteen, the ceramic wheel is where I have been able to hone my craft. The wheel is also the place I have grown in understanding from a teenager into an adult. It’s important to me that my work represents my current stage of life. St. George, Utah is the first place in my adult life that has felt like home and is a location where I can express myself artistically. My work right now is a representation of a time and place in my young adult life where I am beginning to grow into myself as an artist and person. I am contributing to the art world through incorporating my self-expression and dedication to the craft.
